challenge :
modern-day placement agency; focused on recruitment assignments for the telecom industry and sales-related services. identity needed to portray communication, a technological look and feel and a fresh color pallet.

solution :
blue was chosen obviously to reinforce the name of the company, but also because the color was a familiar and accepted color for technology sectors. a sans-serif font face completes the direction, with radio signal-like waves emulating from the letterforms, in support of the telecommunications target audience.

challenge :
logo concept for the annual cch user conference. 2005 was the inaugural year for the conference.

solution :
a humorous approach was given to this exploration : coffee beans and a coffee mug-like representation as a tongue and cheek illustration for the accountants and cpas of the tax and accounting market.

challenge :
concept identity design for a family-owned sawmill that was located nearby a horse farm of the same name.

solution :
a woodcut style was applied to the design for direct literal relation, along with the trendy lithos font which aided in legibility and coincided with the style of the visual design.

challenge :
the client wanted to integrate the representation of the holy trinity, as well as a community feel for the identity of the drake newman center, a catholic organization, on the campus of drake university.

solution :
strong catholic symbols were explored and employed in this design; namely: the alpha and omega symbols, the trinity mark (of the triangle) and community representation of the inclusiveness of the circle and the encompassing form.

challenge :
owner of the company wanted to have a logo that honestly represented the company and portrayed a sense of welcome and comfort for all prospects and customers.

solution :
the final design integrates the circular form of the traditional couch arm as the 'e,' with a gestural style of a couch corner. many of the clients that participate with this firm are looking to converse and connect through phone conversations and in-person meetings for consultative and collaborative purposes.

challenge :
logo needed for flexible loyalty rewards program. final design required to substantiate the emotion of flexibility within strength (the strong hold of the financial credit market).

solution :
a bold typeface was chosen with a soft e letterform to accomplish this objective. also considered and implemented is the ability for this mark to be showcased at extremely small sizes (say, for example, on the flip side of a credit card, as well as a favicon on the web).

redesign the previous gte logo (blue, pill-shaped container with white sans serif text).

solution :
proposed prototype icon focused on the g letterform, juxtaposed with the nostalgic rotary dial. a modern day feel is included by use of the swash forms circling the main design.

challenge :
a modern look for an emerging international real estate development and construction firm, located in the heart of the o‘hare corridor, near chicago. ideally the logo would incorporate a symbol of the world.

solution :
per the client wishes, a letter form of the g, along with concentric circles, representing the world was executed, resulting in this successful mark. also used were gullo‘s favorite colors, primarily based on the trending colors of the south beach, florida area at the time.

challenge :
following the splintering of the at&t monopoly and the market challenges of lucent technologies, hundreds of small telecommunication firms became established; among them, a unique business operating out of naperville, illinois. itecom (short for integrated communications).

solution :
intecom wanted lines of communication and the i-letterform represented in their logo. the solution delivered this wish, along with a logo that represented trans atlantic lines and a logotype that was uniquely developed, solely for their use.

solution :
creative letterforms and use of typographic nuances used to offer unique marks for a multitude of uses.

challenge :
feature a logo that represents weaving and/or related fabrication when applied to personal story telling and family and friend memories.

solution :
a needle and thread metaphor was idealized and illustrated to follow through with the fluid typeface chosen. this logo was secured for a registered trademark in 2003 and perfectly personified the art of personal memories with the business model of documenting stories of people, both deceased and living.

challenge :
a des moines, iowa based event planning and host company for corporate and private events, make a scene requested a fresh, young and vibrant approach.

solution :
coined the ‘squishy star’, this logo won the preferred class for implementation. the fun, celebratory star, with a trendy font of the decade (rage) ultimately fit the bill for the new start up.

the flag-like symbol was initiated to inspire and promote a peer level team within the mypoints corporation; established to encourage and collaboration and communication between senior management and employees.

a logo was requested for the campaign marketing team within mypoints, on the delivery side of the business. the acronym, camp, stood for : campaign marketing promotions.

solution :
the emblem became a watermark, icon and logo for such internal communications, such as power point presentation slides, interoffice communications, email signatures and other internal marketing collateral.

challenge :
ncr, a corporate and personal coaching services firm was looking for an emblem of sorts that focused on a nautical and world travel theme.

solution :
the bold style of the deconstructive design movement in the early turn of the century was the basis of this style; modernized by color and font choice. the acronym stands for naperville coaching resources.

challenge :
the ontyme company, a fine precision watch and clock repair shop wanted a nostalgic and ‘different’ approach to assist in differentiating themselves from other high-end watch repair shops in the chicagoland area.

solution :
a hint of the o letterform, as well as the second hand and an accompanying set of small gears perfects this symbol, which eventually ended up on banners, business cards, letterhead, envelopes; even on the side of their company delivery vehicle.

challenge :
monsanto fibers division, a partner of caron international was looking to feature a new anti-fraying chemical additive in their formula for caron yarn.

solution :
this prototype symbol keys in on the female audience, predominate of the yarn craft market, along with the soft letterforms of the ‘s’ and ‘p.’

challenge :
snow plowing and season landscaping service looked to further their home-based business with a typographical approach, showcasing the family name.

solution :
a handwritten typeface was created to give credence to the generational family business. this typography was successfully applied to letterhead, business cards, envelopes, printed advertisements, signage and commercial vehicles.

challenge :
a popular yarn brand, within the caron branded family. wintuk was undergoing a significant reinvention at the time, focusing their consumer confidence proposition in quality and color offerings. a redesigned logo was in order to underscore this effort.

solution :
attention was given to a modern-edge and quality feel to compliment the growing emergence of synthetic fibers and new dye technologies. additional kerning and a light weight mono-sized font stroke was provided to accomplish the corporate goal.
