Homage to Harriet
Authored by: Jay Archambeau
This is quite a story, and one I’m proud to share. When I met Harriet following her show at the civic center in Plainfield, IN, I shared this memory with her. She and her staff were amazed—and honestly, I’m still amazed whenever I recall this experience.
About three years ago, a song by the Carpenters was playing on the radio. I was with my son and encouraged him to listen because the woman singing was a legend. Her name was Karen, and our generation lost her at a very young age. She was so incredibly talented, and her voice was like none other. “There will not be another Karen Carpenter,” I told him. “Not in my lifetime, but hopefully in yours.”
Just two weeks later, Facebook served a snippet of Harriet’s video on my feed, and I was completely blown away.
The moral of the story to me is to be mindful of what you say — the Universe listens and responds. I am so thankful that we have another voice almost identical to Karen’s. We needed Karen’s healing talents in the ’70s, and we certainly need Harriet’s today. I’m also incredibly grateful I got to experience this magic firsthand with my son.
