Every December, Pantone reveals its Color of the Year, and designers everywhere immediately begin debating whether the choice is brilliant, obvious, or completely off the mark.
For 2026, Pantone selected PANTONE 11-4201 Cloud Dancer, a soft, airy white intended to symbolize calm, clarity, and balance in an increasingly noisy world.
At first glance, Cloud Dancer may seem like a non-choice. After all, white isn’t exactly new. It isn’t flashy. It doesn’t command attention the way past selections such as Viva Magenta or Very Peri did.
That’s precisely the point.

Perhaps that’s why Pantone’s choice resonates.
Not because Cloud Dancer demands attention.
But because it reminds us that not everything needs to.
